Is the strongest laser treatment always the best for my skin?
September 3, 2026
No. The strongest laser is not automatically the safest or most effective choice for your skin. The best treatment depends on your skin tone, the problem you want to improve, how much recovery time you can manage, your sun exposure, and how your skin has reacted to past treatments.
At Elite Wellness Med Spa in Beaumont, we do not choose a treatment by asking, “How high can we turn it?”
We ask, “Which type of energy can reach the right target while protecting the surrounding skin?” That difference matters.
What does a “strong” laser actually mean?
Patients often use the word “strong” to describe a treatment that feels more intense, causes more peeling, or requires more downtime. In medicine, strength is not one simple measurement. A device may use more energy, reach a different depth, remove part of the skin’s surface, or treat a greater percentage of skin in one session.
Those settings do not tell the whole story. Wavelength, pulse length, spot size, treatment density, cooling, skin temperature, and the number of passes all affect what happens in the skin. Two treatments can feel very different even when both are designed to improve sun damage or texture.
More visible injury does not always mean a better result. It may simply mean more inflammation and a longer recovery. The goal is a controlled response that is appropriate for your skin, not the biggest reaction possible.
